Paris in the Spring

Paris in the Spring

Paris is a picturesque and vibrant city at any time of the year, even when it rains, but nothing beats April in Paris, as the famous song suggests. You can get off the metro at any station, large or small, and take a wander through the streets being sure to find some curious and charming surprise on every corner.

Musicians, artists, and street performers punctuate your walk as you take in the abundance of magnificent architecture, and it seems to be all the more lively in Spring with everyone bursting into life after a chilly winter.

As you turn around the corner and the Notre Dame Cathedral comes into sight you feel like you’re in a movie. Construction started in 1163 and it is simply a sight to behold. I strongly recommend walking around the full area as each side has something unique and spectacular to offer, also be sure to visit the interior, and the view from the rooftop to do some gargoyle spotting.

For the most exquisite views of Paris, climb the hill from Pigalle and take a stroll along the famous cobbled streets of Montmartre. With the sunshine and a gentle breeze, the area is best taken in from one of the many cafes or restaurants which line the streets with tables and chairs. Visit the Vineyards of Montmartre, the Sacre-Coeur, the Church of St John, and the cemetery St Vincent.

Le Jardin Sauvage Saint-Vincent can only be seen by guided tours on the first Sunday of the month at 10.30am until 12.30pm and the third Wednesday of the month at 2.30pm until 4.30pm, April to October, but if you get the opportunity, you should jump on it! Located just behind the Sacre-Coeur the garden is an old overgrown abandoned plot that has been protected as a place of interest for biodiversity since the late eighties.
